Monte “Mouse” Mowry, 76, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, at home with his family at his side. A celebration of Monte’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place in accordance with his wishes. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting Monte’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.

Monte was born August 4, 1947, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Kenneth and Leona J. (Nation) Mowry. He graduated from Scottsbluff High School and went on to attend Chadron State College where he studied marine biology.

Monte worked in the construction industry specializing in drywall. He also did truck driving over the years. He was married twice and became the proud father of four children: Lisa, Ryan, Tania, and Dillon. He later met his companion and girlfriend of twenty-five years, Marsha Norwood, and welcomed her daughter, Heather, as his own.

Monte was a free spirit and went on many adventures throughout his lifetime. His travels led him to visiting all fifty states, his favorites being Hawaii and the desert in Southern California. He enjoyed collecting rocks from his journeys and listening to music. Monte found great pleasure in making people laugh, regardless of how he felt. He had the biggest heart, like that of a giant teddy bear. However, he was not one to make mad. He also had a tough side when necessary. He wasn’t a person who would take guff from anyone, and he was a straight shooter.

Survivors include his children, Lisa (Stacy) Russel of Scottsbluff, Ryan (Victoria) Stassines of Geneva, NE, Tania Stassines of Scottsbluff, Dillon (Shelby) Heilbrun of Columbus, NE, and Heather Means of Desert Hot Springs, CA; multiple grandchildren; girlfriend, Marsha Norwood of Desert Hot Springs, CA; siblings, Bill Mowry of Scottsbluff and Sheri Keller of Torrington, WY; along with extended family members and numerous friends.

Monte was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Leona; sister, Bonnie Marie; and wife, Karen J. Mowry.
