The Alliance Volunteer Fire Department continue to battle a fire at the Alliance Landfill.

The woodchip, ground fire is west of the landfill entrance, south of Kansas Street.

Some of the fire has pushed into land north of Kansas Street as firefighters continue to extinguish the flames.

Kansas Street is closed to the public as of 5 p.m. today.

"Please stay away from the area to allow emergency crews access," Alliance Police Department said. "The animals at the Animal Shelter have been evacuated as a precaution and they are safe."

The Alliance Police Department and city crews are assisting with this fire.

Fire crews are also battling two range fires near Angora, south of Alliance in Morrill County.

This fire has caused Highway 385 to be shutdown in locations near the fire.
