Richard D. Landgren Jr. passed away at his home at the age of 67 on April 16, 2026. He was born on April 19, 1958, in Alliance, Nebraska to Frances L. (Gusman) Sturgeon and Richard D. Landgren at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Richard graduated from Alliance High School in 1977 and worked at H&H Sanitation for a time before beginning a career at the Nebraska Department of Roads in 1985, where he would work for the next 39 years. He also had a small lawn service during much of this time, stopping only when age demanded it. He was an avid fan of metal music, attending concerts regularly. Judas Priest, Kiss, Disturbed, and Ghost where some of his favorite bands. He also enjoyed taking frequent road trips and discovering new eateries. He loved cooking, barbequing, and baking. Discovering new recipes to try brought him great joy. He was also a lifelong gardener, planting a large garden each spring and canning his own salsa during each harvest. He was the living embodiment of Nebraska Nice and had a reputation for being friendly and approachable. He would speak with anyone; he always had interesting local historical facts ready to rattle off if someone asked. He was known to be a kind man who loved his children and his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by multiple siblings, his children: Sandi Price, Michelle Landgren, Eli Humphrey, and Richard Gervais (James): and seven grandchildren.
