Opal Louise Morris, 91 passed from this life Sunday, October 8, 2023 at her son’s home in Gering, Nebraska.
She was born on July 15, 1932 to Chris Arthur and Opal Elizabeth (McKim) Engelhaupt at O’Neill, Nebraska. She was the oldest of seven children.
Louise attended country school in Holt County for 1 ½ years, and for that ½ year she was taught by her aunt Annabell Shoemaker. She moved with her family into Chambers, Nebraska where she went to school until her dad moved them to Inman, Nebraska. The family lived there for 2 years before moving for a short time of 2 months to Scottsbluff, Nebraska. They then moved to Washington where she and her siblings went to school at Doty, Washington and her dad worked in the shipyards in Tacoma, Washington. This stay lasted only until the following June because of the distance between living in Doty and her dad driving to work. Louise’s family returned to Western Nebraska and lived in Gering where she attended both Lincoln and McKinley schools, as well as, junior high through 9th grade.
Louise married Clarence Eugene (Barney) Albertson on July 12, 1947 and to this union 2 children were born, a daughter Linda Louise and a son Michael Eugene. On February 20, 1973, Louise married Virgil Lee Morris. While her children were growing up, she worked at various jobs and then in 1976 went to work at WNCC for the next nine years. While working there she got her GED.
She is survived by her son Mike (Jeanine) Albertson, sisters Lois Wilkie, Jeanine Hall, Pat (Art) Deys and Sandra (Bill) Vaughan, sister-in-law Cheryl Engelhaupt, 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Louise also had 3 step sons Raymond (Monica) Morris, Roger (Lucy) Morris and Russell (Vickie) Morris and 3 step grandchildren.
Louise was preceded in death by her husbands Barney Albertson and Virgil Morris, her sister Jan and her husband Joe Hall, her daughter Linda, her brothers-in-law Frank Hall and Floyd Wilkie and her brother Ron Engelhaupt.
