Marquette, Neb.) — The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating an apparent suicide that occurred in Marquette after law enforcement attempted to serve a search warrant as part of an ongoing child exploitation investigation.
Wednesday morning at approximately 7:00 a.m., the NSP Tech Crimes Unit, with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations based in Omaha and Grand Island, attempted to perform a search warrant at a residence at 202 Center Street in Marquette. The search warrant was related to an investigation into child sexual abuse material.
While attempting to contact the resident, identified as Chad Lammermann, 47, investigators saw Lammermann go further inside the home. Moments later, investigators heard gunshots fired inside the house. No law enforcement personnel were hit, and no officers fired their weapons during the incident.
Investigators moved away from the house and the NSP SWAT Team was activated. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to contact anyone inside the house, the SWAT Team entered the home and located Lammermann with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
