ALLIANCE, Neb. — The Alliance Recreation Center (ARC) is proud to announce it has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Nebraska Blue Foundation in support of its Make More Possible Campaign, a community-driven initiative focused on expanding access, strengthening facility amenities, and enhancing the role of ARC as a vital third place for the Alliance community.

In the award notification Nebraska Blue Foundation Executive Director Jay Warren-Teamer wrote: “Your application was impressive, and we applaud the work you are doing to enrich the Nebraska community. We are excited to invest in your organization.”

The grant will support ARC’s expanded access initiative, including the installation of a modern 24/7 secure entry system. This enhancement will allow members to safely access more than 16,000 square feet of upgraded space at any time of day. An important resource for shift workers, low-income families, and individuals with nontraditional schedules. ARC already sees more than 12,000 annual visits outside staffed hours, demonstrating strong community need for around-the-clock availability.

This milestone comes as ARC nears completion of a significant facility remodel. By December 5, the recreation center will offer full 24/7 access to newly renovated locker rooms, professional-grade infrared saunas, red light therapy, a dry sauna, steam room, and expanded wellness and recreation spaces. These upgrades ensure that every community member can access clean, safe, and modern amenities that support their health and well-being.

The Alliance Recreation Center continues to be an essential resource for residents across Box Butte County. As the community’s only full-service recreation facility, ARC welcomed more than 74,000 visits last year, offering fitness programs, youth sports, childcare, and community events that strengthen mental, physical and social health. In 2025 alone, ARC has awarded nearly $40,000 in financial assistance, ensuring that families, youth and seniors are never turned away due to cost for membership assistance, summer camps and afterschool.

“We are honored to receive this support from the Nebraska Blue Foundation,” said Revé Fries, Executive Director of ARC. “This investment enhances our ability to provide a welcoming, accessible, and modern space where our community can connect, grow, and prioritize their well-being.”

For more than 85 years, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska has championed the health and vitality of Nebraska communities. The Nebraska Blue Foundation continues this legacy by supporting innovative programs and community spaces that improve well-being across the state.
