Patricia Lee Harris was born in Rushville Nebraska on November 3, 1948, to Keith Harris and Norma (Reid) Harris. She attended school in Gordon, Nebraska, and graduated from McHenry Illinois in 1966. On March 8, 1969, Pat married Thomas Bermingham. To this union, three children were born – Kimberly Jo, Sean Francis and Kori Lynn. Pat worked various jobs while her children were young until she began working for the United States Postal Service. She retired as the Merriman Postmaster in 2006. After her retirement, she purchased the home her grandfather had built in Gordon and remained there until her health deteriorated. She then moved to Farmer’s Branch, Texas to live with her daughter Kori and Kori’s husband Kyle. Kori and Kyle cared for her in their home until the last weeks of her life, when they brought her home to Gordon and the Sandhills that she loved. Pat was blessed with many dear friends and during the last days of her life she was able to spend time with Jim and Cleta Weisbeck, Merna Ganshert and Linda Holt. Nancy Short, another dear friend, was unable to come to Gordon, but was able to offer Pat words of comfort in her last days.
Pat was known for her deep love for her children and grandchildren. She would spend countless hours looking for the perfect birthday or Christmas gift for them. She loved to travel, and it brought her great joy to plan trips to visit her grandchildren.
Pat passed away at Chadron Hospital on October 23, 2021, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her daughter Kim (Byron) Buchan, daughter Kori (Kyle) Farr, and son Sean (Nikki) Bermingham, six grandchildren, Courtney Puncochar, Michael Barth, Kayla Mohnsen, Taylor Mohnsen, Hannah Bermingham, and Halie Bermingham, two great-grandsons, Hunter and Gage Puncochar, brother Ron (Michelle) Harris, sister Sharyn Monet, nephews Kirk and Aric and nieces Thea and Katy.
