Hemingford's playground dream comes to life

Posted Nov 05, 2024 3:58 PM

The dream of a new playground in Hemingford is one big step closer to reality! The playground equipment has been officially ordered, and the Kid’s Playground Advisory Committee finalized the color palette. Soon, children in Hemingford will have a safe, exciting place to explore, play, and grow!

Thanks to a generous $20,000 grant from the Oregon Trail Community Foundation, along with recent donations of $5,000 from Legacy Coop and $1,000 from the Alliance Eagles, we were able to bring this project to life. With most of the funds already raised, these contributions ensured we could include additional, inclusive features for children who may benefit from them.

In the meantime, final fundraising efforts continue with a special beef raffle of four ¼ beef. Tickets can be purchased any time at the Village office, Mobius/Hemingford Telephone Company, or the Hemingford Credit Union. They are $20/ticket, and the drawing will be held on December 4 at the Hemingford Believe community event. The beef is donated by Delsing Farms with processing donated by Jordan’s Pack.

"We are thrilled to bring this playground to life for the kids in our community," said the Foundation board. "Imagine what it will be like to be a kid in Hemingford, with a fantastic new place to play and spend time with friends!" The playground is set to be installed by Memorial weekend, just in time for summer fun.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far. With continued community support, we’ll make this playground a place where memories are made for years to come!
