NOW HIRING: Great FT employment opportunity in Northwest Nebraska. The Collections Truck Driver position is responsible for safely performing routine specialized work in the gathering of solid waste via collection truck and other associated landfill and disposal equipment. The Truck Driver may also serve as back-up driver for other collection truck routes. This is an Essential Services employment position with the collection/disposal operations located in Chadron, NE.

Position Overview: Position is responsible for performing a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled work, and skillfully operates a variety of equipment, in the collection of solid wastes throughout the Agency’s territory.
Essential Functions: [see website for full announcement of functions]
• Responsible to pick up solid waste containers, including recyclables or yard waste as assigned, and depositing the contents into a collection vehicle, and returning containers to the prescribed area
• Drives a collection vehicle and/or a roll-off side collection unit over a designated route that includes hi-ways and country roads (including loose gravel and dirt).
• Maintain a variety of records/notes relating to inspections, maintenance activity, etc.
• Conducts a daily inspection of tire air pressures, hydraulic pressure, air tanks, hydraulic fluids, and other critical parts of vehicle prior to daily tasks.
• Observes surrounding conditions in order to assure that solid waste is collected in a safe manner.
