Nebraska Bankers Association Elects Chair-Elect

LA VISTA, Neb. – Scott Zimbelman, Chairman and CEO at Homestead Bank in Cozad, was elected as the chair-elect of the Nebraska Bankers Association during the association’s annual convention in La Vista. He will assume the position of NBA Chair in May 2027.

Zimbelman began his banking career at Homestead Bank as a loan officer and has spent over 35 years in the industry. In his current role, he oversees all areas of the bank and has a proven track record in strategic leadership, board governance, agricultural and commercial lending and bank holding company oversight. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Kearney State College and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking in Colorado and the KBA/NBA Advanced Schools of Banking.

Zimbelman has been instrumental in helping move Nebraska’s banking industry forward. He has served the NBA as a member of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Budget Committee.

Zimbelman is also a board member of CBS Co., Midwest Independent Bankers Bank & MIB, Inc. and BBIS, Inc. In addition to his contributions to the banking industry, Zimbelman has also served as board member of Rotary International, Cozad Housing Authority, Cozad Board of Adjustments, Midways Wildlife Recreation Association Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and Cozad Community Scholastic Association.

Reflecting on his nomination, Zimbelman said “my experience on the NBA Board has given me a deeper appreciation for the strength and collaboration within Nebraska’s banking community. With challenges like regulatory changes and rising fraud, it’s inspiring to see how committed we are to working together. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve and look forward to contributing to solutions that move our industry forward.”
