The SWANN Landfill in Dawes County is closed, along with the brush pit and dirt disposal locations here at the Chadron Transfer Station.
Over 2" of rain was received at the landfill, rendering it impassable for entering, let alone dumping debris. Same can be said of the areas at the Chadron Transfer station where the brush pit and dirt disposal areas are located.
It is anticipated it will be closed all of Monday May 19th; residents are encouraged to contact the SWANN transfer station via the Administrative offices at 308-432-4245 for the status of these locations before individuals leave their residences expecting to be able to dispose of this debris. Until the areas dry out for access, please listen to the radio for updates on the sites opening or call the Administrative office.
