By Bayard Fire Department
October 8 at 12:15 p.m. Bayard Fire Department was paged to assist Bridgeport Fire Department with a swiftly moving grass fire threatening structures near L62A and CR87. Call status was upgraded to an involved structure almost immediately by RP. Bayard was asked by Bridgeport command to take command of the scene due to Bridgeport and Broadwater departments being already enroute to a structure fire in Northport.
Minatare and Alliance were paged for mutual aid immediately.
First units on scene performed primary extinguishment on the grass fire, then transitioned to structure operations as additional units arrived. Damage to the structure was limited to two exterior walls of one room of an addition to the primary structure. The structure was not occupied at the time.
Additional loss included hay bales near one of the residences. Extra kudos to Alliance Fire, who also responded to the Northport fire for requested assistance there.
Chimney Rock Public Power and Morrill County Sherriff’s office also assisted with the scene.
