Anna Ingrid Schild of Rapid City, SD, was called home on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. Anna was born to Larry and Susan Forsstrom on May 6, 1971, in Lincoln, NE.
Anna grew up in Alliance, NE, and received an undergraduate degree in criminal justice from Chadron State. She received her teaching degree in special education from Wayne State College. While earning her degrees, Anna worked in group homes for special needs children. Once receiving her special education degree, Anna taught at the Nebraska Home for Boys. In 2001, Anna and her family moved to Rapid City, SD, where Anna took a teaching position working in Special Education at Steven’s High School for the next twenty years. While teaching at Steven’s, Anna continued her education, obtaining her Master’s Degree at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN.
Anna met Glen Schild, who would become the love of her life, in 1992. The couple married in 1993. In 1997, Glen and Anna welcomed their firstborn, Nathan. In 2001, their family grew after the birth of their son Jacob. Anna loved being a mother and devoted herself to providing an amazing childhood for her children. Anna was a loving and supportive wife to her husband, Glen. Anna cherished her family and naturally took on the nurturing caregiver role.
Anna had a passion for special needs children and made it her life’s work to ensure her students knew they were loved and valued. Anna was a selfless person who loved with her whole heart. If Anna could find a way to help someone in need, she would. Anna left an impact on the everyday moments of life.
Anna is survived by her husband, Glen Schild; sons, Nathan (Aubrey Knapp) Schild and Jacob (Samantha Simmons) Schild; aunt, Sharon Griffith; brothers-in-law, Lynn (Stephanie) Schild and Vernon (Joyce) Schild; sister-in-law, Cindi (Dan) Conner; and many family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Susan Forsstrom; grandmother, Anna Forsstrom; in-laws, Ray and Dorris Schild; and brother-in-law, Paul Schild.
Memorial visitation will be at Kirk Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. Memorial service will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. Luncheon will follow at the church and inurnment will be at 12:30 at Mt. View Cemetery.
