United Way Western Nebraska Fight Hunger initiative begins in Panhandle

The United Way of Western Nebraska is having their food distributions to Family in need starting today. Executive Director Karen Benzel explains what the program is all about.

"These are the food distributions where we are looking to fill those gaps for families and help families that are low resource or families in need," Benzel explained.

The participants in the program will get three reusable bags with one bag of fresh fruit and vegetables, one of perishable items and the other is non-perishable items. 

The first food distribution event is today (Tuesday, Oct.3) in Alliance, the next one is on Tue Oct. 10 in Sidney, Thu. Oct 12 in Scottsbluff Tue, Oct 17 in Chadron and wrapping up in Gordon on Oct. 27.
