ALLIANCE, Neb. - On June 3, 2026, at approximately 12:10 p.m., the Alliance Police Department received a report that a male subject had allegedly stolen property from a female victim, damaged her cellular phone, and was driving recklessly in the area of Sweetwater Avenue.

While officers were responding, an independent witness flagged down a responding officer and reported hearing a disturbance involving yelling and screaming in the area.

Officers located the suspect seated in the driver's seat of a gray Chevrolet Silverado in the alley behind the 500 block of Sweetwater Avenue. The suspect had also collided with the rear of another vehicle on private property. Upon contact, the suspect displayed erratic and aggressive behavior, repeatedly refusing lawful commands and challenging officers to shoot him.

During the encounter, the suspect repeatedly reached toward an area inside the vehicle despite commands to stop. The suspect then attempted to place the vehicle in gear and flee the scene; however, the vehicle remained stuck in neutral.

After officers opened the driver's side door, the suspect immediately armed himself with a machete. Officers deployed a TASER, causing the suspect to drop the weapon. Officers then attempted to take the suspect into custody. Despite the TASER deployment, the suspect continued to actively resist arrest by pulling away, kicking, and struggling with officers. A second TASER deployment was utilized, allowing officers to safely gain control of the suspect and place him into custody.

While officers were on scene, the victim was able to recover her property.

Following his arrest, the suspect complained of difficulty breathing and was transported by ambulance to Box Butte General Hospital for medical evaluation. After being medically cleared, he was booked into the Box Butte County Jail.

No serious injuries were reported to officers or the suspect during the incident.

The following charges have been recommended to the Box Butte County Attorney's Office:

- Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person (Felon)

- Resisting Arrest
