On Aug. 1, 2025, at approximately 9:14 p.m. the communications center received an automated message of an accident with airbag deployment at the intersection of the South Beltline Highway and 21st Avenue.
Investigation revealed that the vehicle was northbound on 21st Avenue and left the roadway to the east, traveling through the intersection, colliding with a ditch embankment and coming to rest on the railroad tracks.
James Murray, 57-years-old, of Scottsbluff was the sole occupant and registered owner of the vehicle. Murray was transported to the hospital by Regional West Ambulance, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Due to his injuries, Deputies cited Murray for DUI in lieu of arrest.
Scottsbluff PD officers were the first to arrive and assisted with the investigation and traffic control. The Scottsbluff Rural Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
