Tommy Lee Horse (1949 - 2023)

Tommy Lee Horse was born 10/11/1949 in Chadron, Nebraska to Robert E. and Mardra C. Horse.  Tommy spent most of his life as a resident of his beloved community of Chadron, Nebraska.  Tommy passed away at Monument Health in Rapid City, SD on 10/10/2023 due to unexpected and sudden cardiac arrest.  Tommy had been residing most recently at Crestview Care Center in Chadron where he received excellent care.  Tommy attended school in his earlier years in Chadron, Nebraska and Stapleton, Nebraska.  At age 25, Tommy enlisted in the Army National Guard where he proudly served, retiring after 20 years.  Tommy related some of his most interesting stories from his experiences in the National Guards based out of Chadron.  He did some special forces training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and at Fort Ord, California.  In 1989, he was deployed to Babenhausen, Germany.  He was very proud of his service to his country.  Tommy was a cook in various restaurants around Chadron, but was best known for delivering the Rapid City Journal and Chadron Record for many years.  He made and held onto many friendships through his paper route.  Tommy was preceded in death by his father Robert E. Horse, brother Robert M. Horse, nephew Michael Horse, nephews Jared and Jesse Corlett.  Tommy is survived by his mother Mardra C. Horse, sister Virginia (Dennis) Salisbury, brother Brad Horse, many nephews and nieces as well as great nephews and nieces.  He will be missed by all of his family as well as many friends.
