Josefa “Josie” Lopez, 61, passed away Monday, November 2, 2020 at Box Butte General Hospital.

She was born in Yakima County, Washington to Dionicio and Maria D. (Lopez) Garza.

She married Adolfo Lopez on December 11, 1977 in Ramones County, N.L., Mexico.

Josie was a beautiful soul.  She faced many obstacles in life, but remained strong through it all.  She loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.  She loved joking around and laughing.  She also enjoyed listening to music and cruising through the town.  She always cared for others and was a very selfless person.  She was known for having a sweet tooth and a love for Dr. Pepper.  Josie was a tough woman with a very warm and loving heart.  Although she left many heartbroken, she was reunited with her beloved mother and daughter in heaven.  Though she is gone, she’ll never be forgotten and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Adolfo Lopez, Sr. of Alliance; her children, Demetrio “Tito” (Sulamit) Lopez, Josefa “Josie” (Jose) Garza, Adolfo “Junior” (Lucero) Lopez, Belinda Lopez, Emmanuel (Renae) Lopez, Dionicia “Denise” (Raul) Gomez, and Maruka Lopez, all of Alliance; and 19 grandchildren.  She is also survived by her father, Rev. Dionicio Garza of Nuevo-Leon, Mexico; her brother, Rev. Dionicio (Esther) Garza, Jr. of Roma, TX.; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.  She was preceded in death by her mother, her daughter, Maria Lopez, and her step-mother, Maruca Garza.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 6, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Templo Nuevo Amanecer Church.  Reverend’s Dionicio Garza, Sr. and Dionicio Garza, Jr. will officiate.  A prayer service and visitation with family present will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Pastor Adolfo Reynaga will officiate.  Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery.
