Mary Kuxhausen, age 89, of Mitchell, Nebraska, was called to be with the Lord on April 14, 2021. Visitation will be at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 21, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm. Services will be held Thursday, April 22, at 2pm at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel, with Reverend Joseph Schumacher presiding. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park. A memorial has been established to the family.
Mary was born in Mitchell, Nebraska, to I.L. and Nora Sayre on December 22, 1931. She grew up in the Mitchell area, graduating from Liberty High School in 1950. After graduation, she worked at Woolworth Co. before going to Oregon for a short period of time.
She married Norman Kuxhausen on February 17, 1952, at St. James Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She worked at Montgomery Ward for 19 years and then worked at Walmart until 1997, when her husband’s ill health forced her to leave the workforce to stay at home and care for him. She was a faithful member of the Methodist church in Mitchell.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Rick) Erdman of Scottsbluff and Susan West of Mitchell; seven grandchildren, AJ (Kelsey) Kuxhausen, Lacy (Levi) Bernhardt, Travis (Beth) Erdman, Mandie (Chad) McPherson, Nathan (Kari) Kuxhausen, Heather (Percy) Davis, and Sadie Lassiter; twenty great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and sisters: Leta, Elaine, and Patsy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Kuxhausen; son, Norman Kuxhausen Jr.; son-in-law, Randy West; parents; in-laws; brothers: Glen, Ralph, Leo, and Duane; sisters: Cleo, Helen, Maxine, Viola, Veda, Shirley, and twin sister, Martha. Your kindness, generosity, and never-ending love has touched our hearts forever….
