Northwest Rural Public Power District Names Nathan Zimmerman as New General Manager

HAY SPRINGS, Neb. - Northwest Rural Public Power District is pleased to announce the selection of Nathan Zimmerman to serve as the District’s General Manager. The NRPPD Board of Directors worked in conjunction with the NRECA Executive Search team to facilitate a nationwide search.

Nate brings over 25 years of experience in the electric utility industry, including linework and leadership roles in beneficial electrification and management at municipal and cooperative utilities. Most recently, he served as Manager of Beneficial Electrification at Sioux Valley Energy Cooperative in Coleman, South Dakota, leading beneficial electrification initiatives, working with rate design, and using technologies to aid in financial analysis to strengthen long-term financial stability.

A veteran of the US Army, Nathan is a dedicated, disciplined leader, who is committed to building trust, improving financial resilience, strengthening board-management relationships, and delivering results. He has also served in key safety, rate, and governance roles regionally as well as within Sioux Valley Energy Cooperative.

Nate commented, “I’m honored by the opportunity to serve the staff, board, and customers of Northwest Rural Public Power District. I look forward to learning from the team, building strong relationships, and working together to support the people and members that depend on the district every day.”

Nate and his family are looking forward to putting down roots in northwestern Nebraska.

He will begin his position in May 2026.
