The Box Butte County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of another phone scam in the area.
Phone scammers are telling people their social security accounts and information has been compromised. The callers are asking for personal information.
"They're using 762 numbers to show a local person is calling," Box Butte County Sheriff Tammy Mowry said. "They're still continuing with their scam calls."
Mowry said the Social Security Administration does not call people and request this information.
Residents should never give personal information to anyone over the phone. Just hang up.
To report scams, call the Box Butte County Sheriff's Office at (308) 762-6464.
