Debra Ann Fifield, of Alliance, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, July 11th, 2023 with her son and granddaughter by her side.
Deb was born March 5th, 1944 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and adopted soon after by her parents, Edgar and Margaret (Jahnke) Fifield. Deb graduated from Winona Senior High school in 1962 and enlisted in the Air Force in June of 1962. Deb was united in marriage to Angela Paulette (Rice) Fifield on June 13th, 1964 in Natchez, Mississippi. The day following their wedding, they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Deb was stationed at Kirtland Airforce Base. Following their marriage and move, they welcomed their daughter, Margaret Kristine Fifield on January 6th, 1965, followed by their son, Jefferey Allen Fifield on July 3rd, 1966. Deb was deployed in October 1966 to serve in the Vietnam War. Deb was injured in the war and was sent back stateside where she was given an honorable discharge in January 1969. Deb and Angie moved their family from Bosier City, Louisiana to Alliance, Nebraska on January 1st, 1978. Deb worked at Swepco before becoming an electrician for BNSF and retired in 2000. Deb was an avid model train collector and built an entire building for her model trains in 2000. She and Jeff built a large model railroad that she enjoyed sharing with friends and family. Eventually she remodeled the layout to a different scale. Deb and Angie took their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to her favorite place, Chama, New Mexico many times to ride the steam engine at the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. She also loved taking photographs of her trains, nature, and of course her family.
Deb is survived by her daughter, Kris, of Wilber, NE; her son, Jeff, of Alliance; her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Cari Conner and her children, Gage and Ava, of Lincoln, NE; Michael (Christy) Waybright and their children, Breckton, Mia, Ella, Finn, and Asher, of Lincoln, NE; Erin (Jesse) Bunnell and their children, Zoe and Carsen, of Alliance; Jeremy Fifield (Maura Loberg) of Lincoln, NE; and Cassie (Kyle) Raney, and their daughter, Shaylee, of Valley Center, KS. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Fifield, of Huntsville Alabama and her children, John of Huntsville, and Kirstin and family of Charlotte, North Carolina; niece Debra Gormley of Minnesota; as well as their big baby dog, Enky boy. She was preceded in death by her loving wife of 58 years, Angela, just this past April, her parents, her sister Joan, grandson-in-law Sidney Conner, grandson Eric Allen Fifield, great grandson Wyatt Jay Raney, and Elzetta Green, who was like a daughter to her and Angie.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of life will be held for both Deb and Angie on Friday August 4th, 2023 from 6 to 10 pm at the Dead Unicorn Society in Alliance. Cards may be sent to Erin Bunnell at E24 Meadows Ct or Jeff Fifield at 2308 Rainbow Heights Drive, both in Alliance.
