Sharon L. Carson, age 84, passed away on February 5th, 2023, at North Platte Care Center in North Platte, Nebraska. She was born February 4th, 1939, to Carroll (Bud) and Lucille (Barnes) Porter in Alliance, Nebraska. She was the youngest of four children. Sherry graduated from Hyannis High School in 1957; the same year she met the love of her life Jerry Carson. They were married October 26, 1958, and made their home on the Hager Ranch where Sharon spent many years cooking delicious meals for her family and hired hands. Two children were born to their union—Becky Lynn on July 4, 1960, and Stuart Morgan on July 30, 1962. She was well known for her creativity having created hundreds of beautiful cakes and floral arrangements from her home shop near Hyannis, Nebraska. In later years she worked as a caregiver. Sharon enjoyed her time with family and friends. Jerry and Sharon also raised greyhounds which raced in various states across the country. After spending many years as a devoted ranch hand, the couple retired to North Platte, Nebraska in 2002. Sharon loved every minute with Jerry during their 62 years of marriage.
Sharon will be remembered for her contagious laugh, fun, and outgoing personality, ability to pull off the best pranks, creative touch, and kind heart.
Left to cherish Sharon’s memory is daughter Becky Carson, and son Stuart (Leah) Carson, four grandchildren; Ashley (Tim) Dowhower, Ben (Haley) Carson, Jera (Tyler) Werner, and Page (Tyler) Dahlgren, three great-grandchildren; Molly Carson, Owen Smith, and Baby Dahlgren due in June 2023. Sharon is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Pat Porter and Lois Hampton, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Carson, parents Carroll (Bud) and Lucille Porter, in-laws Gerald and Mabelle Carson, sister JoAnn Cheney, brother Ed Porter, infant sister Peggy Lee Porter, and nephews, Michael Porter, Doug Porter, and David Cheney.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 11:00 am Mountain Time at the Hyannis Congregational Church in Hyannis, NE with Pastor Roy Monahan officiating. Burial will be in the Hyannis Cemetery. A visitation will take place on Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 9:00 am to Service time at the Hyannis Congregational Church.
