Lillian Kay Chapman (1960 - 2022)

Lillian Kay Chapman, 62 was born April 9, 1960 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Alvin Ray and Irene Virginia (Turley) Chapman.   Lillian, her twin Linda and 5 other siblings grew up on the family farm east of Norfolk.  She attended grade school at District 87 in Norfolk and graduated from Norfolk High School in 1978.   On June 23, 1978 she was united in marriage to Gary Dean Johnson.  To this union two children, Angela and Adam were born.  She worked various food service jobs throughout her life.  The most recent was Arby’s.  She loved serving and visiting with her customers.  She lived in Alliance for the last 14 years and worked until she retired due to illness.

Lillian loved her children and grandchildren.  She sacrificed of herself for others; in 1985 she gave a kidney to her twin sister.  She loved to bake and blessed others with her breads and other baked goods.  She battled cancer for over 2 years and spent the last 6 weeks at the Hemingford Community Care Center in Hemingford where she passed away on Saturday September 3, 2022.

Lillian is survived by her children, Angela Kay (Richard) Flood of Alliance and Adam Dean Chapman of Norfolk, NE and her grandchildren, Charity Flood, Nathan Jarvis, Christofer Arcos, Leslie Arcos, Ivyl Flood, Nason Flood, Myra Flood, Ozuia Flood, Secret Flood, Summer Flood, Alyssa Schwindt, Kale Schwindt and Asher Johnson.  She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Larry (Beverly) Chapman of Denver, Leon Chapman of Norfolk, Loralie (William) Jarvis of Norfolk, brothers-in-law, Lester Coughtry of Norfolk and Tom Fryer of Omaha and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister Linda Fryer, brother Lee Chapman, sister Lois Coughtry and sisters-in-law Mary Chapman and Carol Chapman.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 8 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel.  Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. to service time.  Cremation will follow the service with interment at a later date.
