Heaven gained another angel far too soon. Drayden L. Sanchez, 18, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024 in Alliance as the result of an automobile accident.
Drayden was born October 26, 2006 to Spencer P. Sanchez and Chelsea L. Thompson in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
Drayden was a happy baby through the years. Drayden was a healthy baby weighing in at a whopping 8lbs 11oz., which gained him his first nickname Chunkers. As he grew, later his other infamous nickname not known by many would become homaskilla g dawg biscuit g. Drayden and his dad came up with that nickname clowning around one day playing in his bedroom, while watching his favorite show SpongeBob on his SpongeBob TV. As time passed his nickname got shortened to just homaskilla by the time he was 10.
At an early age, he developed enjoyment for sports. From the time he could run he was always kicking a ball. At 3, he was running up and down the football and soccer fields and that’s when it all took off with sports. As he got older, he went to running up and down the baseball fields and the basketball court. Drayden enjoyed playing all sports and every year he was in some sport. In high school he even tried out tennis and was in track. He was a talented boy that turned into a talented young man. Drayden also loved animals, when Drayden’s father met his wife, she brought with her a turdbird named Marley, and when Drayden and Marley met, they became inseparable. They were always with each other from playing outside to cuddling on the floor while he watched TV or played on his video games. A few years down the road when his little brother Gabriel came along, he found another partner to watch TV with and to have watch him play his video games. Drayden loved his little brother. He was always there wanting to help except when it came to changing a diaper, he disappeared like the flash.
Drayden was a very smart, funny, outgoing, caring and loving person. He could slack off in school a bit but when it was time to get that grade, he would pull it off. I’m sure his teachers could attest to that. Drayden could always make people smile and laugh when he wanted too. He had a very unique sense of style that matched no other person. He was always around to lend a helping hand. Drayden had a big heart and touched many lives in his short life.
Drayden is loved by many and will be missed dearly, but today, we don’t say goodbye, we say until we meet again.
He is survived by his parents, Spencer and Kolbee Sanchez of Alliance and Chelsea and Robert Alvarado of Gering; his brothers, Gabriel and Jackson Sanchez of Alliance, Cameron Thompson and Carter and Luke Alvarado, all of Gering.
