Panhandle Prevention Coalition hosting addiction recovery symposium Tuesday

 The Panhandle Prevention Coalition is proud to announce the upcoming symposium, "Beyond Repair: From Dealing Dope to Dealing Hope," featuring David Stoecker, the founder of Better Life in Recovery. This transformative event is set to take place on April 9, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Gering Civic Center in Gering, Nebraska.

David Stoecker, a renowned figure in the realm of addiction recovery, will lead three educational sessions during the symposium:

"From Victim to Thriver": In this session, attendees will delve into Stoecker's personal journey of overcoming addiction and transforming his life into one of purpose and resilience.

"Why Language Matters": Stoecker will explore the impact of language on perceptions of addiction, recovery, and stigma, offering insights on how to foster a more supportive and understanding community.

"Harm Reduction": Attendees will gain valuable knowledge about harm reduction strategies, emphasizing compassion and practical solutions in addressing substance use issues.

The day will culminate with a screening of "Not My Child" at the Midwest Theater in Scottsbluff, a poignant documentary produced by David Stoecker. The film features parents sharing their experiences of navigating their children's substance use disorders, offering profound insights and hope for families grappling with similar challenges. Following the 45-minute screening, Stoecker will lead a short discussion, providing further context and support to attendees.

The Symposium at the Gering Civic Center and the screening of Not My Child at the Midwest have no entry fee, however, the Symposium requires registration due to seating limitations.
