Austin James Descharme, 29, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, in Mitchell, Nebraska. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 12, 2024, at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff with Pastor Jon Simpson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mitchell City Cemetery in Mitchell, Nebraska. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the family under the care of his mother, Lisa Descharme. Austin was born August 25, 1994, in Scottsbluff to Michael and Lisa (Sinner) Descharme. Austin attended Morrill Public Schools graduating in 2013. He enjoyed football, track and FFA throughout high school and continued his education at Western Nebraska Community College.
Austin most recently worked as a conductor for BN Railroad and truly enjoyed his work. Austin was also a proud member of the Minatare Fire Department.
Austin had an outgoing and friendly personality. He always took the time to stop and talk with people he knew or share a take-your-breath-away hug. He was a selfless person who cared deeply about the people in his life. He was fiercely protective and hated to see others sad or struggling. Austin loved spending time with friends and family and was a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews. He liked to play and roughhouse with them whenever he got the chance. Austin shared many special moments with his family, like becoming an uncle for the first time with Logan, camping with Kali’s family, or eating almost all of his Grandma’s blackberry pie. Austin was an avid Husker fan, loved to fish and hunt, and had an affinity for cool vehicles. He was incredibly proud of his new pickup.
Austin and his quick, bright smile will be greatly missed by his mom, Lisa Descharme of Scottsbluff, NE; father, Mike Descharme of Terreton, ID; sisters, Janae Descharme of Wayne, NE and Kali (Brandon) Smith of Scottsbluff, NE; two nieces, two nephews, and a soon-to-be niece; uncles, Eddie (DeeDe) Sinner of Morrill, NE, Jon (Kim) Sinner of Ankeny, IA, and Dale Sinner of Lyman, NE; paternal grandparents, Joe and Bonnie Brown of Terreton, ID; as well as many other family members and friends.
