Update: March 29 at 8:20 a.m.

"Hein Construction notified me that a valve on the kettle broke so they are down for repairs," Box Butte County Road Superintendent Barbara Keegan said. "They plan to be back April 5 to complete Sheridan County and will move to Box Butte County. The projected start date now is April 6."

. . . . . .

The Box Butte County Road Department will be doing road construction on County Road (CR) 70, north of Hemingford.

"The Box Butte County Road Department has contracted with Hein Construction of Fairbury to complete a crack filling project on CR 70, which is the road going north out of Hemingford towards the Box Butte Reservoir," Box Butte County Road Superintendent Barbara Keegan said. "We will start at the Box Butte, Dawes County line and head south towards the Village of Hemingford corporate limits. There maybe some traffic delays. And as always this is a construction work zone so fines maybe doubled. We just want everyone to be safe and know what is going on. "

The road work will start on Monday, March 29.

Keegan said this road project has been in the works for some time.

"The Board of Commissioners have prioritized some roads and we're trying to get some work done with Lincoln as far as the additional work on CR 70," Keegan said. "This is the first step of that. It has been in the hopper, hopefully we're getting step one of it done."

Keegan said the length of construction depends on the weather.

"We're got several projects lined up," Keegan said. "I was given a dollar limit that I could go to. We will go as far as $40,000. Obviously CR 70 going north to the dam. After that we will work on CR 69 to the Village of Hemingford cemetery...then we'll work on Jefferson and CR 60."

Keegan said Hein Construction will be in the area at least a week.
