For the third time ever, the Mega Millions game has a billion-dollar jackpot available to win. Because of the high jackpot, the Nebraska Lottery reminds customers to play responsibly.
The Mega Millions jackpot starts at $20 million and continues to grow each drawing until it is won. There have been 29 consecutive drawings since April 19 without a jackpot winner. This run has grown the estimated jackpot for Friday, July 29 drawing to $1.025 billion or $602.5 million with the cash option selected. This is the 3rd largest jackpot in Mega Millions history.
This jackpot run has produced one big winner here in Nebraska. In the July 22 drawing, one $10,000 Mega Millions winning ticket was sold at Hy-Vee Gas, 7608 Olson Drive in Papillion. This ticket matched four of the five white ball numbers (14, 40, 60, 64, 66) and the Mega Ball number (16) for $10,000.
The largest Mega Millions jackpot on record occurred in October 2018 when one winner in South Carolina won a $1.537 billion jackpot.
