Tornado Warning issued for Kimball, Cheyenne Co., confirmed tornado

UPDATE at 8:54pm 

A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 915 PM MDT FOR SOUTHWESTERN CHEYENNE AND SOUTHEASTERN KIMBALL COUNTIES...

At 854 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 9 miles south of Potter, or 18 miles southeast of Kimball, moving east at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado and baseball size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without  shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage  to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is  likely.

This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of southwestern Cheyenne and southeastern Kimball Counties.

A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 845 PM MDT FOR WESTERN CHEYENNE AND SOUTHEASTERN KIMBALL COUNTIES...

At 828 PM MDT, a confirmed tornado was located approximately 1 mile south of Kimball, moving southeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Damaging tornado and three inch hail.

SOURCE...Off-duty NWS employee confirmed tornado.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without  shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage  to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is  likely.

This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of western Cheyenne and southeastern Kimball Counties.

This includes Interstate 80 in Nebraska between mile markers 23 andn 24.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

To repeat, a tornado is on the ground. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
