Alliance resident United States Navy Veteran Brad Moomey was honored at the regular monthly meeting of the Alliance American Legion Post #7 on Tuesday, April 5 with the presentation of the American Legion District 4 Workhorse Award by District 4 Vice Commander Steve Stanec.
This award consists of a traveling trophy and is presented to the individual in District 4 who puts in extra time and effort for the American Legion promoting its programs and activities on all levels. The trophy is kept for one year by the recipient and then returned to the next District 4 Convention. District 4 consists of 18 local Posts with a Legionnaire membership of just over 780 in the western part of the state of Nebraska.
Brad Moomey is currently Alliance American Legion Post 7's Adjutant/Financial Officer and is a member of the Honor Guard & Color Guard. He assists in displaying and removing the avenue of flags at both the Calvary Cemetery and Alliance City Cemetery on holidays. Brad participates in Operation School Talk each year in the Alliance High School Junior American History classes and conductes a Vietnam War presentation for the Alliance High School Modern History Senior class. He is an active participant in most of the many Quilts of Valor presentations each year to our local Veterans.
