William J. Schultz Jr., 82, of Morrill, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, in the comfort of his home near Morrill. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff with Fr. Mike McDonald as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery near Morrill. A Rosary will be recited at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. William was born January 13, 1941, to William Sr. and Gladina (Stuckey) Schultz at his grandparents’ home south of Gering, Nebraska. William was a premature baby and was placed in the oven for warmth until his grandfather hand-built him a homemade incubator. He attended the Sunflower School.
William married Barbara Mulford in Scottsbluff. Three children were born to this union: William III, Michael, and Libby. He started farming at an early age and said there was nothing else he would have rather done. William made farming his life-long career.
He loved basketball and football in high school. William enjoyed collecting vintage coins and above all else, loved being with his family and friends. He was a very hospitable and friendly person that was always willing to help those in need.
Survivors include his sons, William III (Belinda) and Mike (Karen) Schultz; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; half-brother, Bob Zweifel; and his special dog, Billie.
