CHADRON – Chadron State College is assisting with emergency response efforts for the South Fork Fire by serving as the location for Incident Command and providing temporary shelter for displaced residents.
A Facebook page has been created for fire updates at @South Fork Fire Nebraska. Check for official updates from fire officials at that Facebook page or visit the South Fork Fire Inciweb page.
This page will be updated as additional information becomes available.
Campus Operations
Incident Command for the South Fork Fire will be operating from Chadron State College’s campus.
Beginning today, firefighting personnel and support staff will be using the Kline parking lot, as well as the parking lot west of Kent Hall and the parking lot east of Andrews Hall. Incident Command will also be establishing temporary tent facilities in the Amphitheatre area and other locations on campus.
Evacuation Shelter Information
In the event of an evacuation due to the South Fork Fire, Andrews Hall at Chadron State College is available for residents of Crawford and Sioux County.
Bedding will not be provided; evacuees should bring their own sleeping supplies, medications, and personal necessities.
CSC Dining Services has teamed up with President Jodi Kupper to provide brunch and supper to those sheltering on campus. That service will be provided today through Sunday, June 14. Brunch is from 9 to 10 a.m., while supper is 5 to 6 p.m.
Within the residence halls, pets are allowed, but please be respectful of common areas.
