Give your input on community redevelopment!

Dr. Sabine Martin, representing Kansas State University’s Technical Assistance to Brownfields (TAB) Program, along with faculty and students from South Dakota State University’s School of Design, will facilitate a community input session on the revitalization of the former power plant in Alliance. Box Butte Development Corporation in partnership with the City of Alliance invites residents to attend the input session to share ideas.

With funding from the EPA, the Kansas State University TAB program provides free technical assistance to communities that want to redevelop brownfield sites/structures with the goal to revitalize the community. Brownfields are vacant or underutilized parcels or structures that may or may not be contaminated. The City of Alliance’s decommissioned power plant was selected as a joint community project for students studying interior and graphic design, landscape, architecture, and studio art.

During the Community Input Session, participants will work in small groups to provide input and ideas to revitalize the power plant. The student group will use these community ideas to design potential reuse options for community consideration.
