Discover the benefits of composting and how to compost at a presentation by UNL extension service educator, John Thomas, on Thursday, May 28 at the library from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Did you know that more than 30 percent of the food that the average American buys end up in the garbage unused? This and other organic waste can be made into compost, a rich organic material that greatly benefits soil and plays a significant role in soil development.
Pretty much anyone can compost and anything can be composted. It’s a science but it’s not difficult requiring a basic understanding is all that is required. There is minimal cost, and you already have the majority of what is needed to compost.

Myth #1: It’ too difficult
Myth #2: Compost piles smell
Myth #3: It costs a lot of money
Myth #4: Composting attracts rodents
Myth #5: It takes a lot of space
Myth #6: You need an outdoor garden
