Dell Raymond Clark, 83, passed away at his home in Alliance on November 19, 2022 with his loving family by his side. Dell was born October 3, 1939 in Crawford, Nebraska to Alvin “Pete” and Edna Clark of Marsland.
He attended grade school in Marsland and graduated from Hemingford High School in 1957. Dell was an outstanding high school athlete, and it was at a basketball game where he met the love of his life, Karen Gayle Robinson.
Dell described how thankful he was they met that day: “It is amazing what the touch of a hand can do to your heart. That is how I met the wonderful lady that God put here for me and He led us through a happy and wonderful life together.”
Dell and Karen were married at the First Christian Church in Alliance on March 9, 1958. To this union, four children were born: Delynn, Jeffrey (JR), Douglas, and Jason (Jake). They started their family in Alliance, raised them in Lexington from 1966-1976, and then returned to Alliance. Dell was the Quarter Horse president, a 4-H leader, baseball coach and started the Overton Roping Club while in Lexington.
Dell loved the cowboy way of life. A hard worker, Dell found joy in his work ranching, feeding cattle, buying and training horses, and a career as a Nebraska State Brand Inspector. He was an athlete in any sport in which he participated including football, basketball, rodeo, and baseball where he was a Legion player. He passed his love of these events on to his children and grandchildren teaching, coaching and cheering them on always with a lovable heart.
The accolades through his life have been numerous. Only God knows all the wonderful things he has accomplished and that is what was most important to him. Dell had a kind and pure heart and was grateful for his many blessings. He was an amazing husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Dell is survived by his wife of 64 years Karen Clark, Alliance; son JR (Julie) Clark, Wellfleet; son Doug Clark, Denver, Colo; and son Jake (Kerin) Clark, Yoder, Wyo. He is survived by eight grandchildren: Jesse (Elizabeth) Cain, Lincoln; Jace (Susan) Cain, Corpus Cristi, Texas; Crista Cain, Hazel Park, Mich.; Wyatt Clark, McCook; Jaden Clark, Curtis; Madison Clark (Bryce) Doeschot, Firth; Kadra Clark, Yoder, Wyo.; and Kyler Clark, Yoder, Wyo. His five great-grandchildren are: Jax Cain and Brayden, Corpus Cristi, Texas; Rogan and Callum Cain, Lincoln; and Garrett Doeschot, Firth. Dell is also survived by his sister Donna (Clell) Riesen, Minatare; and his nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents Pete and Edna Clark; his brother Wayne Clark; and daughter Delynn Cain.
