LINCOLN, Neb. – The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) announced the winners of the 2026 Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month Awards.
Individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) and members of the developmental disabilities community across Nebraska had the opportunity to nominate individuals, providers, community leaders and employers for one of four awards.
“Across the state, providers, individuals, families and employers champion building opportunities for Nebraskans with IDD to live meaningful, independent and purpose-filled lives. DHHS is honored to recognize the 2026 Developmental Disabilities Awareness Award Winners who consistently go above and beyond to make a lasting difference in the lives of others. Your dedication, compassion and commitment are inspiring and key components to creating a great state where every Nebraskan has access to the care and the supports they need,” said Tony Green, Director of the Division of Developmental Disabilities.
The Community Leader Award is presented to:
- Greg Boettger – Bellevue
- Beth Libra – Norfolk
- Kayla Walnofer – Norfolk
This award recognizes a person or group who is extraordinary in giving their time (paid or unpaid) to help people with IDD. These selfless leaders are committed to promoting independence and making positive changes, showcasing their passion for advancing individual lives.
The Creative Employer Award is presented to:
- Madonna Rehab Hospital (Heather Comstock) - Lincoln
- Crunch Fitness (Devin Devito) – Lincoln
- Sonny’s Super Foods - Sidney
This award recognizes a community employer who employs an individual with IDD. This employer goes above and beyond expectations to help employees thrive in their workplace. Their culture is open and innovative, fostering success for all employees.
The Individual Spotlight Award is presented to:
- Jozlyn England – Kearney
- Ibrahim Khalafalla - Omaha
- Braxton Siffring – Rising City
This award recognizes a person with IDD who has overcome adversity to achieve or exceed their goals. The award winners demonstrate a drive to improve, a desire for greater independence and a commitment to making a difference in their own life and the lives of others.
The Outstanding Provider Award is presented to:
- Marley Brown (Munroe-Meyer Institute) – Omaha
- Dacia Palmer (Office of Human Development) – Sidney
- Brandon and Mandi Wilson (Independent Providers) – Lincoln
This award recognizes a provider who excels in delivering services, strives for person-centered outcomes, fosters a welcoming culture and goes above and beyond to support people with IDD in living their best life as defined by them.
