Box Butte County woman arrested for felony drug charges

A Hemingford woman is in court this week facing felony drug charges from a traffic stop in Scotts Bluff County.

41-year-old Melissa Annen of Hemingford was stopped by a trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol on Thursday Aug. 10, a little after 1 a.m on Highway 26.

Court documents state that Annen failed to signal two turns and when she was stopped, the trooper found traces of methamphetamine and she taken to the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center. Annen allegedly concealed drugs into the Scottsbluff Detention Center and authorities found meth, fentanyl and cocaine.

She made her first appearance in Scotts Bluff County Court on charges of intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, fentanyl and methamphetamine along with tampering physical evidence.

Annen has a preliminary hearing set for Aug. 17, with bond set at $400,000.
