Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands announce seasonal hiring

Chadron, Neb– The Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands is hiring seasonal employees for the upcoming recreation season and is encouraging local residents to apply. "Working with Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands means more than a summer job—it’s a chance to care for places that matter," said Forest Supervisor Amanda Gehrt. "Whether you’re helping at the tree nursery, maintaining trails, or greeting visitors at the Grasslands Visitor Center, you’ll be part of something bigger."The Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands is recruiting for a variety of roles, including:

  1. Recreation and visitor services
  2. Trail and facility maintenance
  3. Nursery operations and maintenance

These positions are in addition to seasonal fire hire events, already underway. Bringing on seasonal employees will help improve trails, campgrounds and facilities for safer, reliable and enjoyable recreation experiences for all. Positions are available at Nebraska National Forest’s Pine Ridge Ranger District in Chadron, Nebraska, and Bessey Ranger District in Halsey, Nebraska; at Buffalo Gap National Grassland’s Fall River Ranger District in Hot Springs, South Dakota, and Wall Ranger District, as well as the National Grasslands Visitor Center in Wall, South Dakota. "Seasonal roles here offer hands-on experience and a connection to unique landscapes," Gehrt said. "It’s a great way to start a career in natural resources or simply spend the summer outdoors making a difference. We encourage anyone interested to apply."
