Three people were transported to a hospital after a vehicle accident on Highway 385 south of Alliance.

The two-vehicle accident happened at 10:08 a.m. on Oct. 12 near Rock Road on Highway 385.

A Ford Focus driven Veronica Salazar of Alliance was southbound on Highway 385 when she tried to turn into a property.

A Ford Fusion driven by Rhonda Berger of Alliance was northbound on Highway 385. Berger was unable to stop in time and t-boned Salazar.

Highway 385 was converted into a two-lane road until the accident was cleared at approximately 2:45 p.m.

"Alliance Roads Department came out and helped us with cones," Box Butte County Sheriff Deputy Marcus Hjersman said. "We were able to set it up to where the southbound lanes were just converted to two-lane, that way they could have north and south traffic going there. We had the road [northbound Highway 385] closed down for Nebraska State Patrol to do an accident reconstruction."

Hjersman said seatbelts were in use in Berger's vehicle, but Salazar did not appear to be wearing one.

"All parties were transported to Box Butte General Hospital," Hjersman said. "The driver of both vehicles then got transported to other facilities."
