James F. Kriz, 84, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Regional West Medical Center.
He was born March 13, 1940 in Cleveland, OH to James F. and Pauline (Zufan) Kriz. On June 20, 1964 he was united in marriage to Patricia J. Esper at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vermillion, OH.
Jim began teaching in Ohio until moving to Kyle, SD in 1977. After teaching there for 2 years the family moved to Edgemont, SD. While there he hired on the Burlington Northern Railroad. In 1981 the family moved to Guernsey, WY before transferring to Alliance in 1983. He retired from the railroad in 2003.
Jim was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his children, Mike of Lincoln, Peggy (John) Kirkhum of Mt. Bethel, PA and Kevin of Alliance, his grandchildren, Brittany Davis, Mark Kriz, Jr., Bradley Kriz and Amanda (Jake) Canfield and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry (Barb) Kriz of Ponce Inlet, FL and his sister, Karen (John) Metzger of Independence, OH. Jim was preceded in death by his son, Mark, his parents and his father-in-law and mother-in-law.
Funeral services will be Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery at a later date. A wake service will be Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the church.
