Scotts Bluff National Monument to Offer 2 Night Sky Programs

GERING, NE – Ranger Christopher Vuille-Kowing will present his program Park After Dark Astronomy on July 26th and August 9th, both at 8:45 p.m. in the field adjacent to the Scotts Bluff National Monument Visitor Center located at 190276 Old Oregon Trail in Gering, NE. 

This program is FREE and appropriate for visitors of all ages. Program participants will be treated to Lakota & Pawnee constellation stories, a presentation about nearby celestial objects, and a chance to view these objects through a variety of telescopes. Assisting Ranger Vuille-Kowing will be Professor Tom Robinson of the Western Nebraska Community College and Park Volunteer Bob Wagner.  

It is encouraged that attendees bring along a red headlamp or flashlight to assist in safe navigation from their vehicles to the field where the program is being held in addition to bug-repellent spray. 

Each program will last approximately one hour. Due to limited space, pre-registration is required. Please register by calling the Scotts Bluff National Monument Visitor Center at 308-436-9700.
