GORDON, Neb. – Northwest Community Action Partnership (NCAP) invites the public to a Community Surplus Sale on Thursday, July 16, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at its Gordon Head Start location, 116 E. Lariat Street.

The sale will feature a variety of surplus items, including kitchen supplies, office supplies, classroom materials, furniture, and more. Rather than assigning prices, NCAP is inviting attendees to make a free will donation for any items they choose to take home.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for community members, nonprofits, and anyone looking for useful items to find something they can use while supporting our mission of serving children and families across northwest Nebraska," said Brooke Smith, CEO of Northwest Community Action Partnership.

The surplus sale is part of NCAP's ongoing efforts to refresh and reimagine its Gordon Head Start facility. As the building is cleaned, reorganized, and updated, the agency is creating a brighter, more welcoming environment that will better serve children and families for years to come.

NCAP is also excited to welcome a dedicated new team of staff who are preparing for the 2026-2027 Head Start school year. Enrollment is now open for children ages 3-5 in NCAP's free preschool program. Families interested in learning more or applying are encouraged to call (308) 432-3393.

"We're excited about this new chapter in Gordon," Smith said. "While this sale helps us clear out items that are no longer needed, it's really about making room for new opportunities. We can't wait to welcome families into a refreshed center with an outstanding team that's ready to provide a high-quality early learning experience for local children."

The surplus sale is open to the public, and items will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Community members are encouraged to stop by, browse the selection, and help give these items a second life through a free will donation.
