On February 3, 2022 Ronald Hanks passed from this life in his home and was welcomed into the gates of Heaven and loving arms of God, our Father, with his family at his side.

Ronald Lloyd Hanks was born on July 29, 1938 in Hay Springs, NE to parents, Lloyd and Wilma Hanks. He also had three sisters, Mary, Phyllis and Glenda. Ronnie joined the Army in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1966. Other than his time in the service of his country, Ronnie lived his entire life in the Hay Springs area. While stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX he was joined in marriage to Marianne Siegrist of Hay Springs on May 11, 1962. To this union were born three sons, Wade, Cory and Lynn.

Upon his return to Hay Springs, Ronnie worked for Everett and Lola Rincker on their farm on Mirage Flats for 21 years until the family moved into town in 1984. Ronnie then worked for the City of Hay Springs until retiring in 2003. His best days were then spent golfing, gardening, playing pool and card games. He was also a devoted fan at his kids and grandkids sporting events.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Marianne of Hay Springs, NE. His sons, Wade Hanks, Crawford, NE; Cory (Tia) Hanks, Hay Springs, NE; and Lynn (Teri) Hanks, Crawford, NE. His grandchildren, Darrick (Lacie) Hanks, Mullen, NE; Haley (Jesse) Savala, Thedford, NE; Jake Hanks, Crawford, NE; and Sadie Hanks, Hay Springs, NE. Great grandchildren include Ava Savala, Ellianna Collins and the expected arrival of new baby girl in March to Darrick and Lacie Hanks. His sisters, Mary Hood of Morrill, NE; Phyllis (Steve "Luke") Lucas of Powell, WY; and Glenda Cushing of Rushville, NE. He also leaves to mourn his passing numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, his inlaws, Lavern and Mary Siegrist, Martin Siegrist, Gary Siegrist, Dave Hood and Jim Cushing. Most recently the heartbreaking loss of daughter in law, Hattie (Wade) Hanks and granddaughter, Rylee (Justin) Downs and unborn baby left a void in his earthly life.

Graveside services and military honors with the family in attendance will be held on February 4, 2022 at 10:00am at the Hay Springs Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Pastor Wierschke.

A memorial has been established for the Hay Springs Fire Department. Memorials and condolences may be sent in care of Chamberlain Drabbels, PO Box 443, Hay Springs, NE.
