CHADRON&nbsp;–&nbsp;The Dawes County Travel Board has placed a temporary moratorium on new grant requests. The board took the action at its July meeting and will re-evaluate in December.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“The Dawes County Travel Board is taking precautionary measures to stay within budget after reviewing booking and travel trends for the region for the remainder of the&nbsp;summer,” said Director Kerri Rempp. “While we recognize grant dollars are critical to many organizations,&nbsp;available data&nbsp;indicates&nbsp;revenue could&nbsp;drop significantly&nbsp;year-over-year.&nbsp;We have an obligation to manage the budget in a fiscally&nbsp;sound&nbsp;manner.”&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Travel Board also scaled back its planned calendar of advertising for the&nbsp;remainder&nbsp;of the calendar year.&nbsp;&nbsp;
