CHADRON – The Dawes County Travel Board has placed a temporary moratorium on new grant requests. The board took the action at its July meeting and will re-evaluate in December.
“The Dawes County Travel Board is taking precautionary measures to stay within budget after reviewing booking and travel trends for the region for the remainder of the summer,” said Director Kerri Rempp. “While we recognize grant dollars are critical to many organizations, available data indicates revenue could drop significantly year-over-year. We have an obligation to manage the budget in a fiscally sound manner.”
The Travel Board also scaled back its planned calendar of advertising for the remainder of the calendar year.
