The Box Butte County Fair is back and bigger than ever, bringing two weeks of excitement, tradition and family fun to the fairgrounds in Hemingford. From livestock shows and rodeos to concerts and demolition derbies, this year’s fair offers something for everyone.

The fair officially kicks off Saturday, July 26, with the 4-H Family Fairgrounds Clean-up at 8 a.m., followed by the 4-H BB Gun/Air Rifle Shoot and Bump & Run races on Sunday, July 27.

Youth will be in the spotlight with a wide variety of 4-H events including cat, dog, rabbit, poultry, horse, swine, beef, and goat shows, as well as the ever-popular Pedal Pull, Clover Kid Parade, and Cookie Jar & Cake Auction.

The midway will be buzzing with carnival rides and RockIT Events, open daily from August 7–9. Fairgoers can cool off at Waterhole #9 Outdoor Bar, open August 6–10 from 1 p.m. to midnight.

Live entertainment takes center stage on Saturday, August 9. The evening kicks off with Nate Botsford at 7 p.m., followed by country music star Neal McCoy at 8:30 p.m. A country dance will follow under the Nebraska sky.

Other highlights include the Antique Equipment Show at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 9. The Livestock Buyers BBQ and Auction is set for August 9, and the Demolition Derby is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 10.

Families are invited to attend daily activities, enjoy open class exhibits, and support local youth during the many 4-H and FFA competitions.
