Scottsbluff High School is Nebraska Girls State State Golf Champion and Anna Kelley won the individual title on a playoff hole. The Bearcats cruised to a girls golf title Tuesday at Monument Shadows in Gering, taking 22 shots of Monday’s total in their second round and winning the championship by 51 strokes at plus-110.
It took two playoff holes for a pair of rivals schools to settle who’d win the individual title. Scottsbluff sophomore Anna Kelley clipped Gering senior Madilyne Schlaepfer after both finished their two rounds at 12-over.
Gering claimed 6th place in the team standings by one stroke over Grand Island Northwest.
Alliance came in last, but improved their second day scores by 16 shots as a team.
Chadron senior Maddy Pelton came in 12th.
In Columbus at the Class C tournament Broken Bow is your champion with a 48-shot victory over Lincoln Christian.
Kimball ended state in 11th place and Mitchell slipped to 15th. Kimball junior Peyton Wise was the best local finisher with 6th place and a plus-22 total.
Individually the winning score was written in by Abbigail Broderson from Boone Central with an 11-over par two-day total.
