The University of Nebraska Board of Regents will meet at 9 a.m. Friday, April 24, in the board room at Varner Hall, 3835 Holdrege St., in Lincoln. The meeting is open to the public and will be live-streamed at www.nebraska.edu.

A detailed agenda for the Board meeting is available here.

During the meeting, the Board will consider major renovations to Memorial Stadium. The Big Red Rebuild project would provide updates to the stadium to improve fan experience, enhance ADA accessibility, address deferred maintenance and ensure Memorial Stadium remains a place where Nebraska traditions are made well into the future.

“Memorial Stadium represents the best of Nebraska,” said NU President Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D. “For more than a century, it has been a place where Nebraskans come together to celebrate their pride in the University of Nebraska and their shared identity both as Huskers and as the best fans in college football. This project ensures Memorial Stadium will be worthy of those fans well into the future.”

The board will also consider renovations of the Student Success and Activity Center at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis and of Elephant Hall at Morrill Hall on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Campus. In addition, it will consider construction of a new Infectious Diseases Air Transport training facility at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The facility would establish biocontainment patient transport training to care for patients with highly infectious diseases. The facility would provide hands-on training opportunities for military personnel and other partners.

“UNMC is an established leader in the treatment of infectious disease; construction of this new facility will allow us to build on our considerable strength in this area and provide unique, world-class training opportunities for our military partners,” said Dr. Gold. “This is an incredible opportunity for the university and for Nebraska.”

The board will also consider the elimination of four low enrollment degree programs at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Nine students received degrees from the combined four programs in the 2024-25 academic year.

Other items on the April 24 meeting agenda include:

- A presentation from Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Rick Evans, director of the National Strategic Research Institute;

- Recognition of the four outgoing student regents;

- Recognition of four Kudos Award winners from each of the four University of Nebraska campuses.
