Richard John Lockman, Sr., 84, of Scottsbluff, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023, at home. His funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Bridgman Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with Pastor Rick Reisig officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Scottsbluff. A viewing will be held on hour prior to the funeral. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Richard’s honor be made in care of the Gering American Legion Post #36. Richard was born August 20th, 1938 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Jacob (Jack) Lockman and Rose (Burbach) Lockman. He quit school at the age of 14 to help support the family as a farmhand.
He met the love of his life Patty Ann Dike, and they were married June 1st, 1961. He was drafted into the Army soon after they were married, and served at Fort Carson, Colorado, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Aberdeen, Maryland and Germany. While in the service he served as a Military Police (MP), which he was very proud of.
After his discharge he and Patty made their home in Scottsbluff, Ne. He worked various jobs throughout his life to include farmhand, volunteer deputy for the Sheriff department, mechanic, security guard, water foreman and sanitation foreman for the City of Scottsbluff, tow truck owner and operator and he and his son ran a moving business and assisted with setting up auctions. He was a hard worker all his life. He considered himself a jack of all trades and master of none. He always kept busy. He retired 4 different times but could never stay retired.
He loved to tell jokes and dance his little jig. He loved his family. His grandkids and great grandkids were his pride and joy. He loved to collect things and to wear goofy hats just to make you laugh. He would do anything he could for anyone. He loved to watch football, wrestling, westerns and Court TV.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patty, his five children Richard Lockman Jr of Minatare, NE, Pamela Taylor (Aden) of Minatare, NE, Bryan Lockman of Scottsbluff, NE, Anita Skinner (Bill Stall) of Bayard, NE and Deborah DeOllos of Scottsbluff, NE.
Grandchildren Laura Heldenbrand, Wendy Wulfkuhle (Marc), Lacie Bauer, Aden Taylor Jr (Audryaunna), Shania Buxbaum (Vincent), Cheyanne Taylor, Dakota Taylor, Micheal Lockman (Marissa),Bryanna Lockman, Olivia Ferszt, Caleb Skinner, Austin Skinner, Addison Stall, Ronald DeOllos, Cassandra DeOllos. Great grandkids Alexis Shelby, Jasmine Shelby, Angel Shelby, JoAnna Shelby, Holden Wulfkuhle, Chevelle Wulfkuhle, Adam Hill Jr, Keona Hill, Sebastian Taylor, Adena Taylor, Seydrik Taylor and one great-great grandchild Elijah Burke. Three brothers, twin Ronald Lockman (Deloris) of Mitchell, NE, Marvin Lockman (Jackalin) of Spearfish, SD, James Lockman (Sandi) of North Platte, NE and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Jack and Rose Lockman, brother LeeRoy Lockman and sisters Betty Low, Deloris Lockman and Irma Dalrymple.
