Alliance Police officers, assisted by the Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol, served an arrest warrant today on Derek Reyes of Alliance for charges including 1st Degree Sexual Assault and Strangulation. Reyes was the subject of a recent sexual assault investigation involving a juvenile victim. Reyes is a registered sex offender.
Included in the warrant was the suspect’s phone. This investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be added based on the forensic examination of Mr. Reyes’s phone.
Reyes is currently being held in the Box Butte County Jail. No bond has been set as of the time of this release.
Due to the nature of the case and the involvement of a juvenile victim, no further details will be released at this time.
